Astronaut
A person who flies into space.
Comet
A small frozen ball of dust and gas that moves around the sun.
Constellation
A group of stars as they are seen from Earth.
Crater
A hole made by  a meteorite.
Earth
The 3rd planet from the sun.  The plaet we live on.
Eclipse
The total or partial covering of one body in space by another.
Galaxy
A large group of stars.
Gravity
The pull on all bodies towards the Earth's center.
Jupiter
The 5th planet from the sun.  The largest planet.
Launch
When a spacecraft shoots into space.
Mars
The 4th planet from the sun.  Sometimes called the red planet.
Mercury
The 1st planet from the sun.  It looks like the Earth's moon.
Meteor
A space rock entering the Earth's atmosphere.
Meteorite
A space rock fallen to Earth.
The Milky Way
The edge of our galaxy as it appears from Earth.
Moon
A satellite that moves around a planet.
Neptune
The 8th planet from the sun.  This planet is a big ball of blue gas.
Orbit
A path through space followed by one thing around another.
Planet
A body in space that moves around a star.
Pluto
The farthest planet form the sun.  This is the smallest planet.
Rotate
To turn around an axis.
Satellite
A small body on orbit around a larger body.
Saturn
The 6th planet from the sun.  This planet has many rings.
Shuttle
A vehicle used by astronauts to travel in space.
Solar System
The sun and all the objects that orbit it.
Star
Balls of hot gases.
Sun
The star the Earth and other planets move around.
Telescope
Used to see planets and stars.
Universe
All of space and everything in it.
Uranus
The 7th planet from the sun.  This planet rotates sideways.
Venus
The 2nd planet from the sun.  This planet is most like Earth in size.
